Very handy tool

I love that I can post assignments that students can easily see.

Cons

I wish they would change the way websites linked in Schoology automatically open within the platform.

Stands out among other LMS tools

Pros

I liked having grades, assignments and course materials all in one platform.

Cons

It is not as userfriendly as other platforms like Google Classroom. You could only attach one link or document at a time, which was limiting.

Free LMS yet feature-rich

Pros

It has a free version with lots of features. It's easy for both admins and students to use. I didn't need to contact support, so I can't speak to that.

Cons

It felt very American centric and didn't work well with New Zealand's education system, especially with levels and curriculum differences.

Simplifies everything!

Pros

As a teacher, it was easy to learn. I used some tutorial videos online but never had formal training. Setting up multiple classes was straightforward, and students found it easy to locate and submit assignments.

Cons

I found it hard to communicate with students because they didn't seem to get alerts consistently. Also there was not much option to customize your site.

Great for managing a class

Pros

I like how quizzes and tests can be created.

Cons

Creating new quizzes and assigning them to multiple classes was difficult and time-consuming.

Helps a lot with assignments

Schoology makes it simple to create different types of quizzes and tests, and grading is much easier.

Cons

Automatic grading would mark answers wrong if there were any spacing or punctuation differences so I had to spend time fixing those errors.

Fantastic gradebook tool

Pros

Schoology has made my teaching life a lot easier. I have used many grade book apps over the last 15 years and this is by far the best. It's easy to learn, and I like that I can quickly contact students or parents if there's a problem. Students can check their current grades and see missing assignments. One of my favorite features is importing assignments through Blackboard, which automatically grades student responses. I can create and edit assignments and save every assignment over the years. Since our county switched to Schoology, it has made my job much easier.

Cons

I can't think of many cons except that if you click through pages too fast, it sometimes gives an error. But that doesn't affect the overall quality much.

Ideal for teachers

Pros

This tool lets me keep grades for all my students easily. Schoology allows educators to create assignments that automatically grade students' work. A big plus is that students and parents can always stay updated on overall grades.

Cons

It takes some time to get used to Schoology, but after a few days of experimenting, you can use it pretty easily.

Way better than the system we used before

Pros

It's easy to use. The student portal is clean, moving between classes is simple and there are lots of options for different question types in assessments. Organizing everything is so simple.

Cons

It would be great to have more options for displaying content. We found some workarounds to make things look less plain but it's not very simple. Adding more design flair would help.

School version of Facebook

Pros

The newsfeed and the ability to add other tools to classes are huge benefits.

Cons

Sometimes the grading system didn't work correctly and was tricky to set up properly.
